Sound Software

A sound card will often come with programs for recording and playing sound, playing MIDI and MOD files and possibly composing and arranging music. If it does not, a number of freeware, shareware and retail packages are available.

For transferring digital audio from CDs I am using CDParanoia, and for compressing those to MPEG I layer 3, I am using BladeEnc. For recording voice I am using DAP, Digital Audio Processor, which also offers playback and effects processing much like CoolEdit and Goldwave. This is a Linux based program.
