Chief Moonbeam checked the keyhole to see if he could surreptitiously (secretly, to those of you without a dictionary) take a peek at who the nefarious villains really were. He had only just gotten his eye level with the hole when he saw a pair of teeth poke right through it.
The wolf jumped back and grabbed a bit of newspaper which he stuffed into the keyhole. He wasn't concerned that in this way they might pick the lock because Zoe, being ever the practical one, had put a deadlock on the door as well. Nevertheless, this foiled his plans for fingering the culprits.
