Geek Day Out 2000
Notes & Bolts 20 September 2000
|
Meeting convened on 21 September. Those present at this
meeting were: Kirsty, Campbell, Greg, Andrew, Katherine. More dire and
dastardly digital derangements were discussed.
- It was agreed that we should combine our party with ACE 2000, the
alternative computing expo, if possible. Though, the time will be tight.
ACE 2000 will take place October 21 & 22, we can have our party the
Friday before, 20 October.
To accomodate these plans we decided to meet weekly at Breizoz, starting
next week 7pm Wednesday.
Katherine mentioned that VALinux need us to present them with a solid plan with budget, if they are
to feel comfortable with contributing.
Greg mentioned that we could tell VALinux that up to 7000 people will be at
the event, of which a certain hefty percentage will turn up at the party.
Kirsty suggested that instead of a robot competition, time constraints might
warrant having a robot disco rally.
Kirsty also reported Olaf's laser harp is mostly a yes and that she can
speak with Clan Analogue about audio equipment for the party.
Andrew will check to see if a combined Tokyo party is still possible.
Who will be organising multi-player gaming? It should be a definite part of
the party
We need to speak with Nicole about running Linux demos at the party.
Greg says that Apple might provide video for cool displays and video
conferencing with the Tokyo party.
Katherine volunteered to design t-shirts for the event.
Andrew volunteered to talk with Roseanne and ask if she might write about the event for The
Age
Kirsty said she might speak with Olaf about doing the lighting for the
party.
We need a copy of the building plans from Greg in order to arrange for
Webcam
We may need dividers in order to create a chill room.
A suggestion went out that pizza by the foot might be the go for
catering.
We are also interested in tracking someone down who can bring in an Espresso
cart. Mans?
Next meeting Wednesday 27 September 7pm.
