There's always hope.

This was at least two drawing styles ago, but it's probably my favorite and seems to be a lot of other people's. Explaining why a joke works is sort of missing the point of the joke, but I do think this strip works well. It's a good execution of a fairly typical Ozy and Millie joke structure: three panels of philosophizing, interrupted by a complete non-sequitur in panel 4. And I just think "waffle" is one of the funniest words in the language.

I'd also like to point out that, with the exception of one or two extremely early strips, Ozy and Llewellyn are the only characters who have ever broken the fourth wall and addressed the audience directly.
