comic strip

Self-righteous Millie
Originally published 1 February 2001

This strip was, most directly, a reaction to something that had just happened. It's a long story and kind of petty. I wrote something, someone who was not the target audience got hold of it and took offense, and several people were mad at me over something that was really none of their business.

There's really no point in going into the specifics. As often happens, that very specific set of circumstances brought to mind a much more general point--that half the time when people get angry and self-righteous, it's partly because being self-righteous just feels really good. It's quite a rush. This isn't acknowledged nearly often enough as a factor, when people start huffing about things.
