were constructed by Christian-fundamentalist pressure groups with the intent of
criminalizing normal teenage behavior, and the side effect of protecting child
molesters from prosecution, under the pretext of protecting children. I find
that completely unacceptable. Outrageous, actually."
Current laws often protect child molesters. I understand and sympathise with
anyone who has been traumatised and does not wish to discuss this topic for
that reason, but shutting down discussion altogether because people would
rather not think about abuse is effectively abandoning victims.
