"The Great Elephant Census shows that savanna elephant populations in 18
countries declined by 30 percent. Most of the animals counted were in
protected areas."

Via David Brin, who wrote: "Either we are better than this... or we
deserve the same thing. More likely, we divide into those who fit into
the first half of the preceding sentence and those who merit the second.
Those who deem the Earth to be disposable... please be first off the
boat? Up! Go on with you!"
