comic strip

Protection money

This strip was the product of a conversation I had with my friend Andrea Fender. I've actually lost track of the conversational thread that led to what would eventually become the punchline to the cartoon, but it began with us walking past a new stationery store and ended with us saying, in our best stereotype gangster voices, things like "you got a reeeeeal nice box of paperclips here. It'd be a shame if someone was to STRAIGHTEN them." I'm not sure why we were talking about making a stationery store pay us protection money. Why does anyone talk about anything?
